Optical improvements of the 30" mirror completed

28th June 2013

A series of minor optical improvements on the 30” primary mirror for the Millennium Telescope have been completed. The mirror will be ready to install into the telescope in later in the year, after being kept indoors for the fresh reflective coating to harden. By then, the ‘Mark II’ (temporary manual-slew and electric slow-motion) drive system should also be complete, meaning that the telescope should be ready for use in the public stargazing evenings from this autumn.
